As
the daughter of an advertising illustrator, Sandy Rotermund became
fascinated with art at an early age. Hours of watching her
father draw and paint set her heart in motion, and thus began her
love affair with painting.
It wasn't until Sandy had spent many years moonlighting as a professional
painter while working full-time in the health industry, that she
realized where her first love really was. It was then that
she began painting exclusively, as well as teaching painting to
both children and adults.
Unencumbered by the restrictions of a formal art training, Sandy has developed her own personal style through continuous self-study of both subject and technique. Her representational style maintains a painterly quality that captures the realistic beauty of her subject without duplicating a photograph. Those subjects intentionally vary from jelly jars to beached boats in the sand because she finds the discovery of new material to be crucial in stimulating her creativity. Sandy has participated in many exhibits and juried shows and received numerous commissions in both oil and watercolor. Her original works and limited edition prints are included in private and corporate collections throughout the United States.
